Though it is important to understand the healthy aspects of a range of foods, the greatest benefits arise from combining multiple nutritious properties into what Oscar Franco, a Columbian scientist, defined as a “polymeal.” Outlining his ideas in a paper published in the British Medical Journal in 2004, Franco writes, “The polymeal promises to be an effective, non-pharmacological, safe, cheap and tasty alternative to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and increase life expectancy in the general population.”
Inspired by Franco’s revolutionary research, Jonny Bowden drew on the principles that he explored in his earlier book and set out to create healthy and delicious polymeals. Bowden’s new book, " The Healthiest Meals on Earth ", compiles a wide range of healthy menus for a variety of occasions.
